PAINTINGS AND PRINTS
I use a wide range of watercolors and gouache with multiple tones. Landscapes in subdued earth tones, to skies with vibrant yellows, reds and oranges, are all around us to enjoy. The odd shape, shadow and perspective when stretched or exaggerated allows one to reconsider and ponder space in new ways.
Michigan's Great Lakes, the older towns and structures of the Midwest, and the four seasons inspire most of my paintings.
I am an avid long-distance bicyclist and always carry a sketchpad and camera to capture images and light in the farms, fields and forests of Michigan. Ironically, it was my biking that got me hooked on train graffiti while shooting perspective photos for some old industrial sketches.
